17 and [d]James, the son of Zebedee, and

John the brother of [e]James (to them He

gave the name Boanerges, which means,

“Sons of Thunder”);

Mark 3:17 (NASB)

18 and Andrew, and Philip,

and Bartholomew, and Matthew, and Thomas,

and [f]James the son of Alphaeus, and

Thaddaeus, and Simon the [g]Zealot;

Mark 3:18 (NASB)

19 and Judas Iscariot, who betrayed Him.

Mark 3:19 (NASB)

57 When it was evening, there came a

rich man from Arimathea, named Joseph,

who himself had also become a disciple of Jesus.

Matthew 27:57 (NASB)

Choosing of the Seven

1 Now [a]at this time while the

disciples were increasing in number,

a complaint arose on the part of the

[b]Hellenistic Jews against the native

Hebrews, because their widows were

being overlooked in the daily serving of food.

Acts 6:1 (NASB)

So the twelve summoned the [c]congregation

of the disciples and said, “It is not

desirable for us to neglect the word of

God in order to serve tables.

Acts 6:2 (NASB)

The word of God kept on spreading;

and the number of the disciples

continued to increase greatly in

Jerusalem, and a great many of

the priests were becoming

obedient to the faith.

Acts 6:7 (NASB)

36 Now in Joppa there was a

disciple named Tabitha

(which translated in Greek

is called [q]Dorcas); this

woman was abounding with

deeds of kindness and charity

which she continually did.

Acts 9:36 (NASB)

26 and when he had found him,

he brought him to Antioch.

And for an entire year they

[a]met with the church and

taught considerable [b]

numbers; and the disciples

were first called Christians in Antioch.

Acts 11:26 (NASB)

9 (for the fruit of the Light consists in

all goodness and righteousness and truth),

10 [f]trying to learn

what is pleasing to the Lord.

 Ephesians 5: 9-10 (NASB)

[ The Meaning of Discipleship ] “A disciple

is not above his teacher, nor a slave above his master.

Matthew 10:24

25 It is enough for the disciple that

he become like his teacher, and the slave

like his master. If they have called the

head of the house [w] Beelzebul, how much

more will they malign the members of

his household!

 Matthew 10:25 (NASB)

11 Such were some of you; but you

were washed, but you were sanctified,

but you were justified in the name

of the Lord Jesus Christ and in the

Spirit of our God.

1 Corinthians 6:11 (NASB)

Our people must also learn to engage

in good deeds to meet pressing needs,

so that they will not be unfruitful.

Titus 3:14

28 “Come to Me, all [a]who are weary

and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest.

Matthew 11:28 (NASB)

29 Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me,

for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.

Matthew 11:29 (NASB)

Discipleship Tested

25 Now [m]large crowds were going

along with Him; and He turned and

said to them,

26 “If anyone comes to Me, and

does not [n]hate his own father

and mother and wife and children

and brothers and sisters, yes, and

even his own life, he cannot be

My disciple.

Luke 14:26

27 Whoever does not carry his own

cross and come after Me

cannot be My disciple.

Luke 14:27

28 For which one of you, when he wants

to build a tower, does not first sit down a

nd calculate the cost to see if he has enough to complete it?

Luke 14:28

By this all men will know that you

are My disciples, if you have love for one another.”

John 13:35

2 The things which you have heard

from me in the presence of many

witnesses, entrust these to faithful men

who will be able to teach others also.

2 Timothy 2:2

Fathers, do not provoke your children

to anger, but bring them up

in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.

Ephesians 6:4

Older men are to be temperate,

dignified, sensible, sound in faith,

in love, in [a]perseverance.

Titus 2:2

Older women likewise are to be

reverent in their behavior, not malicious

gossips nor enslaved to much wine,

teaching what is good,

Titus 2:3

so that they may [b]encourage the

young women to love their husbands,

to love their children,

Titus 2:4

to be sensible, pure, workers at home,

kind, being subject to their own husbands,

so that the word of God will not be dishonored.

Titus 2:5

Likewise urge the young men

to be [c]sensible;

Titus 2:6

in all things show yourself to

be an example of good deeds,

with [d]purity in doctrine, dignified,

Titus 2:7

sound in speech which is

beyond reproach, so that the

opponent will be put to shame,

having nothing bad to say about us.

Titus 2:8

16 Let the word of [a]Christ richly

dwell within you, [b]with all wisdom

teaching and admonishing [c]one

another with psalms and hymns

and spiritual songs, singing [d]with

thankfulness in your hearts to God.

Colossians 3:16 (NASB)

Luke 12 33:34

33 “Sell your possessions and give to charity; make yourselves money belts which do not wear out, an unfailing treasure in heaven, where no thief comes near nor moth destroys. 34 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

Do not be afraid, little flock, for your Father has chosen gladly to give you the kingdom.

Luke 12:32

10 that I may know Him and the power

of His resurrection and the fellowship of

His sufferings, being conformed to His death;

11 in order that I may attain to the

resurrection from the dead.

Philippians 3:10-11 (NASB)
